Update on Jackfish and Camping Lake Fire. May 6th PM

  • The fire is now about 60% contained and holding. There has been no fire advancement to the North-West.
  • Ground crews continue to maintain their ground.
  • An additional request for waterbombers has been made.
  • Please avoid the area. Crews require the roads and space to ensure they can work effectively and safely.
  • Please do not fly drones over the fire area. Drones are incredibly dangerous for air and ground crews.
  • The evacuation notice for everyone on Range Road 214 & 215, north of Township Road 674, and the prepare to evacuate notice for everyone else in the area between Jackfish Lake and the Athabasca River to the west remains in effect. The status will continue to be monitored.
