Athabasca County owns, operates, and maintains cemeteries in Colinton, Boyle, George Lake, and Ellscott. There are many other cemeteries in the County that are maintained and operated by non-profit organizations. Together we are working to make our cemeteries peaceful places for everyone to help remember their loved ones in their final resting places.

Cemetery Improvement Program

Athabasca County encourages local communities and  incorporated non-profit organizational cemetery groups within the County to improve their cemeteries, and individual grave sites, through its Local Cemetery Improvement Program.

As a show of respect to the individuals who have been laid to rest, the program provides incentive funding to assist cemetery groups undertake improvements of their cemeteries. The County recognizes the significant contributions our forefathers made to our region and is proud to help maintain these final resting places for future generations.
