Athabasca County maintains water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure that promotes public health and safety. Residential properties within hamlets are serviced by water and waste water systems, and residents living on acreages or farms can access truck fills and tank loading facilities for both potable and agricultural use water.
Regional Water Distribution
Athabasca County purchases water from the Athabasca Regional Water Services Commission which operates a water treatment plant in Athabasca, Alberta.
A regional water distribution line helps provide potable water to residents and businesses in the region. Athabasca County operates and maintains the water distribution systems in Colinton, Grassland, Wandering River, and Deer Valley Estates.
Waste Water Services
Waste Water Systems are provided in Colinton, Wandering River, Rochester, and Grassland. They are managed by the Athabasca County Public Works Department.
Truck Fills (Potable Drinking Water)
Truck fills provide potable drinking water for use in the home or business. Currently there are truck fills located in the hamlets of Colinton, Grassland and Wandering River.
Rate – $9.00 per cubic metre
If you are interested in starting an account, it’s easy to do. All that it requires is the submission of a Customer Registration Form electronically, by mail, fax, or by hand delivering it to the Athabasca County Admin Office during regular working hours.
Accounts will be allocated to County area residents for commercial and residential purposes only.

Tank Loading Fill (Non-Potable Water)
Tank loading facilities were created to support agricultural producers access water at minimal cost for their farming or ranching operations.
Water purchased from Tank Loading Fills are intended for agricultural use only. It is untreated and not intended for household use or human consumption. Signage is posted at each location to remind users of the quality of water they are purchasing.
