Community Transportation
Community transportation services are provided to seniors and disabled individuals residing within the boundaries of Athabasca County, Town of Athabasca and Village of Boyle. The service is overseen by the Community Transportation Committee, with the finances and vehicle maintenance being administered by Athabasca County staff.
Each of the participating municipalities (Athabasca County, The Town of Athabasca and the Village of Boyle) contributes towards the financial operation of the community transportation service as agreed upon annually by the municipal councils. Financially the service operates on a break-even basis, with no operational or capital deficits unless approved in advance by all three partners.
Area of Operation
The service may be provided to assist any disabled citizen or citizen over the age of 60 who resides within the boundaries of the Athabasca County, the Town of Athabasca or the Village of Boyle.
Trips will only originate from within the County, although destination points outside the County will be considered.
There are two wheelchair accessible vehicles utilized to deliver the service; a 12 passenger/2 wheelchair Handi-Bus and a 10 passenger Handi-Van ( 7 passenger/1 wheelchair).

exists.
The bus will only be made available if the County Manager or his designate authorizes a suitable driver for the trip.
