Firewood contractor sought

Athabasca County’s Recreation Board is accepting proposals for the supply of firewood to various County campgrounds throughout the 2016 Camping Season and beyond.

This has the potential to be a minimum three (3) year contract. The camping season starts May 1st and ends September 30th of each year.

The Contractor must be able to deliver within 72 hours’ notice. Firewood is to be delivered to Athabasca County Public Works Yard, Forfar Park, Hope Lake and Jackfish Lake Campgrounds.

The wood can be a mix of poplar, spruce, tamarack, birch and pine (no pine from out of province, all pine from within province must be free of mountain pine beetles). All wood must be seasoned (not green). Pieces shall be between 16” and 18” long, any pieces over 6” in diameter must be split. Firewood shall be stretch wrapped or bagged (must be 1.5 cubic feet per bundle). Supply will be approximately 4,000 bundles per year for all campgrounds.

Contractors must provide an invoice to the Athabasca County Administration Office after the delivery of firewood. Invoices will be processed mid and/or end of month. Cheques will be mailed out unless County Administration is notified of other arrangements.
