The Peace Officer for Athabasca County Enforcement Services now has the authority to conduct enforcement on 1 and 2-digit highways and respond to emergencies when called upon by Fire or the RCMP.
Authority has been granted by the Government of Alberta for the Athabasca County Peace Officer to conduct traffic enforcement within the County and to attend Joint Force Operations with other enforcement agencies. The Peace Officer may also conduct construction zone enforcement, address traffic safety concerns observed during regular duties on 1 and 2-digit highways and respond to emergencies utilizing emergency equipment such as collisions and fire or medical emergencies.
The new authority is in place to improve safety on highways in the County and better assist other agencies in the area and the citizens of Athabasca County.
