In recognition, the Athabasca County Administration, FCSS, and Public Works offices will be closed on Monday, September, 30th 2024 for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a day to honour Survivors and families who courageously share their stories and to remember the children who never came home. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
In honour of the day, the Athabasca Native Friendship Centre will be hosting a walk and talk from Noon-3:00PM along the 1km Muskeg Creek trail, starting at the centre.
Athabasca County will have its flags at half-mast from sunrise to sunset on this day.

Indigenous peoples across Canada can also go to The Hope for Wellness Help Line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for counselling and crisis intervention.
