- The fire continues to be deemed HELD by Alberta Forestry and Parks. For a fire to be classified as under control, ground crews will need to put water at least 30 feet into the burn area around the entire proximity of the fire. This process takes a few days. An update will be given once the fire is deemed under control, and again when the fire has been deemed fully out.
- Crews are still actively working on fighting the fire.
- Four helicopters have been on site bucketing the fire. On Saturday waterbombers were utilized to cover the fire area but were then redeployed by the Province to other areas.
- On the ground there were nine dozer vehicles, two backhoes, 2 contracted water trucks & two public works water trucks, six SRD crews, and twelve public works staff.
- The Athabasca, Colinton, and Boyle fire departments have been on site working in shifts to ensure 24-hour coverage was met fighting the fire.
- At 4:00PM on Sunday May 7th, the evacuation notice was lifted, and residents were permitted to return to their homes. As a precaution, the prepare to evacuate notice remained and is still in effect for the affected area.
