Infrastructure Services Projects

Roads are a major focus for Athabasca County and each year it is the greatest single expenditure for the municipality.The overall investment in roads for 2020 is just over $11 million. Grants account for just over $3.3 million of the total. The County continues to cost-share for dust control applications at a cost of $477,624 to the municipality. The 2020 Budget includes the following: 

  • Road Grading $4.1 million
  • Road Graveling $2.4 million
  • Bridge repairs $550,000
  • Right of Way maintenance $675,000
  • Road Maintenance $508,800
  • Hard Surfacing Projects $928,000

Keep Safety in Mind

Slower speeds help to ensure the safety of both our workers and you. They also reduce the chance for damage to equipment and your vehicle.

Rocks can dislodge from the road surface when graders are working, so keep a safe following distance and pass only when it is safe to do so.

Unless otherwise posted, the speed limit on all County roads in ideal driving conditions is 80 km/h. Inclement weather can cause road surfaces to become more slippery than usual. Please drive with caution and follow the directions of all flag people in construction areas.
