Help the People of Ukraine

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Sts. Peter & Sts. Paul – Athabasca has shared information about how residents of Athabasca and area can help vulnerable people in Ukraine. The Parish has offered the following options to donate:

  • Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Sts. Peter & Paul – Athabasca: The Ukrainian Orthodox Parish of Sts. Peter and Paul is offering to collect monetary funds and provide tax receipts for donations over $20.00. All funds will be forwarded in the Parish’s name in its entirety directly to the Bishop’s Orphanage Fund.

  • Bishop’s Orphanage Fund – Locum Tenens of the Metropolitan Cathedral, his Grace, Bishop Illarion of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada personally takes monetary donations directly to several orphanages in Ukraine so that they may purchase items of need. (Note: The Bishop has been to Athabasca several times for visitations and services.)

The Government of Alberta has outlined support for Ukrainians arriving in Alberta at https://www.alberta.ca/support-for-ukrainians.aspx. The web page contains information on accessing settlement services, enrolling children in school, finding jobs, getting a driver’s license, accessing health care services, and many other important considerations for new arrivals from Ukraine.
