Athabasca County crews are actively addressing drainage and flooding concerns caused by creeks and ditches that are flowing at capacity.
High flow conditions happen when our region has high snowfall accumulations and a sudden rise in temperature takes place. Most jurisdictions in Northern Alberta are dealing with similar challenges this year. This year culverts and roads have sustained damage, and roads have been washed out in places.

Safety Notes
Residents are reminded to take extra caution during this time of high flow conditions.
- Obey all road closure signs
- Keep a safe distance from flowing water in ditches and ensure children and pets are safe. The water may be flowing faster than it looks.
- If possible do not drive on road surfaces with standing water on them. There may be hidden hazards.
An assessment of all County roads has been completed but conditions are changing. If you see a new area of concern please contact our office to report it.
