Forms now available for tax exemption
On January 1, 2020 the Federal Fuel Charge (Carbon Tax) takes effect in Alberta. Mandated under the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act, the federal government has announced targeted relief for certain sectors, including the agriculture sector.
Farmers are eligible to use the Canada Revenue Agency exemption form L402, and when submitted to your fuel supplier, you can receive an exemption from the tax.
These forms are available from the Canada Revenue Agency website, from your fuel supplier, or by clicking on the link below.
It is necessary to submit a completed original form to your fuel supplier and keep a copy of the form for your records. It is not necessary to submit the form to the Canada Revenue Agency.
