Bondiss & Athabasca County IDP

The Summer Village of Bondiss and Athabasca County have engaged Municipal Planning Services (MPS) to assist with the preparation of a Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP).  Throughout 2020 and 2021, the Summer Villages, the County, and MPS have been working to prepare a draft IDP, a high-level statutory land use plan for areas of mutual interest of two or more municipalities.

IDP PROJECT UPDATE

The Summer Village of Bondiss and Athabasca Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP) is a statutory plan between Athabasca County and the Summer Village of Bondiss for lands around their shared municipal boundaries. The IDP was adopted by the two municipalities as of September 2021 and is now in effect for the lands within the plan area.

The purpose of this IDP is to:

• Coordinate land use policies, future development, and long-term growth within the plan area between the participating municipalities
• Implement consistent land management goals
• Reduce the possibility of future land use conflicts
• Establish processes for communication, referral, and dispute resolution
