AU relocates convocation due to wildfires

Decision made to help increase safety for everyone

Today Athabasca County received word that Athabasca University made the tough decision to move its convocation ceremony from Athabasca to Red Deer. The event is an important one for our region and is one we all look forward to each year.

Given the wildfires burning north of us right now, we understand Athabasca University’s decision to move their event this year.  We wish this year’s graduates all the best of success as they move on to new endeavors.

This decision was made with safety in mind for all parties involved and keeps those who are currently evacuated from their homes close to heart. We look forward to seeing convocation return to Athabasca in 2020!
