On Wednesday July 26th, STARS Ambulance and Athabasca County officially opened the new STARS Fuel Cache at the Athabasca Airport. The new fuel cache will greatly expand the ability of STARS Ambulance to be able to operate in Athabasca County and northern Alberta. STARS crews will know that fuel is available to them at the Athabasca Airport to fuel up on-route to someone who is need, or on the way back before reaching Edmonton, allowing them to respond to much further and remote areas. STARS will have detailed data on when the cache was used and the amount of fuel that is available at any time.
Athabasca County would like to recognize and thank several organizations that made this possible. ZS2 Technologies provided the research, development, and shipping of the fuel cache building as an in-kind donation to Athabasca County, Red-L Distributors Ltd. supplied the fueling equipment at a significant discount, and Lincoln County Oilfield Services Ltd. donated crane services to lift the fuel off the trailers and onto the pad.
Athabasca County and STARS are happy to ensure that valuable air ambulance services continue to help residents of Athabasca County and neighboring municipalities.
