At a Special Council meeting held on July 21, 2022, Athabasca County Council appointed Mr. Frank Coutney as the interim Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for Athabasca County, effective July 29, 2022. Mr. Coutney replaces current CAO, Mr. Rod Risling, who notified Council in early June of his resignation effective July 28, 2022.
Raised in Lac La Biche, Mr. Coutney has over 35 years of municipal government experience, including 28 years as the CAO for the County of Wetaskiwin.
The recruitment process to fill Athabasca County’s CAO position is underway. Mr. Coutney’s interim role will conclude once a permanent CAO has been selected and appointed by Council.
