Athabasca County will be adjusting its fee schedule for development permit applications as of January 1, 2015. The change was passed by Athabasca County Council at its December 9, 2014 Regular Council meeting following a recommendation to do so by the Municipal Planning Commission (MPC).
It has been over 10 years since development fees have increased. The decision for the increase follows a review and comparison of development fees with like-sized municipalities that showed Athabasca County was at the very low end of the scale in its fee structure.
The change affects several home and commercial/industrial developments, as well as other land uses as outlined in the fee schedule below. The fee increase does not affect building, electrical, plumbing, gas or private sewage permits.
