At the December 12th Council meeting, Council approved the 2024 Operating and Capital Budgets, and the 2025-2028 Operating and Capital Plans.
During the meeting, Councillor Kapitaniuk stated “This budget is an amazing document that shows a lot of teamwork between Council and Administration with new directors and staff in place all learning to work together very quickly on what is considered the most important job as a whole organization that we will do every year. I am proud to be a part of it, and I think that we have done our taxpayers a great service with this document. I feel that we have listened to the people, focused on our community, and focused on future planning.”
The budget has a strong focus on planning for the County’s future with forward thinking initiatives towards reserve contributions to allow more funding towards projects that will benefit the region.
County Council has a strong commitment to the safety and wellbeing of the community. The budget includes increased contributions to the Fire Protection and Enforcement services budgets to ensure readiness for any possible future emergencies or day-to-day public safety.
Steps are being made to constantly improve the quality of life for residents and visitors within the County. Upgrades are currently being planned for County campgrounds and facilities to promote recreation and economic development revitalization. Along with these plans a feasibility assessment on County facilities will be conducted on all county buildings, such as all water and sewer buildings, to ensure the services that the County provides to the community continue uninterrupted and possibly improved upon.
