Update #8: Highway 831 Re-opens at 6pm with Restrictions

Highway 831 South of Boyle will be opened with restrictions at 6:00pm on May 9th, 2025.

Signage will be located on the highway indicating a change of speed limit, and direction to avoid stopping on the highway. Please obey any traffic signs or ground crews and drive with caution. This is considered a construction zone and enforcement will be on scene.

Please note that smoke will still be visible in the area and fire crews will continue to be working in the area.

The Highway 831 Fire was classified as under control at 2:00pm on May 9th, 2025. Crews remain in the area extinguishing hot spots and conducting mop up activities.

While this fire is now under control, Wildfire conditions are still listed as “Extreme” for the area, and a Fire and OHV ban remains in effect for Athabasca County.
