Update #6: No Fire Growth Overnight

Excellent work from ground crews during the day and overnight, as well low overnight temperatures and less wind continued to see excellent progress on fighting the Highway 831 Fire. The fire guard was completed on Thursday and is 100% secured. The fire saw no growth overnight. Fire crews spent the night putting out hot spots, working on mop up activities, and patrolling the fire permitter and evacuation zone.

Highway 831 remains closed south of Boyle to give emergency crews adequate space to work.

Athabasca County still has some residents under an evacuation order South of the Village of Boyle, requiring them to maintain a State of Local Emergency Declaration. The affected residences are listed below.

While this fire is now held, Wildfire conditions are still listed as “Extreme” for the area, and a Fire and OHV ban remains in effect for Athabasca County.
