The wildfire hazard in Athabasca County is HIGH.
The County is restricting the issuance of any new fire permits to essential burning only. The use of burn barrels, cooking and warming fires are still being permitted at this time; however, please use extreme caution and never leave a fire unattended.
Athabasca County urges everyone using an ATV to be mindful of any debris collecting on the exhaust which could result in the ignition of a fire.
Anyone who has conducted open burning during the winter is reminded to check their burn sites to ensure they are completely extinguished.
All residents and visitors to the area are reminded to be diligent in safety practices when using a campfire. Keep the fire small and make sure it is completely out before you leave the area.
