Highway 831 Fire – Update #1

Athabasca County and the Village of Boyle have been working together on the fire incident on Highway 831, South of the Village of Boyle.

Fire Crews from Athabasca County and surrounding areas have been working together and fought the fire throughout the night, keeping the fire at bay. More resources have been requested for assistance.

County residents and the entire Village of Boyle were successfully evacuated starting at 10:49pm on May 6th. Buses were stationed in the Village of Boyle to assist with the evacuation. A reception centre was opened in Lac La Biche at the Parkland Motels II to accept evacuees.

The fire continues to move North towards the Village of Boyle while fire crews continue to fight it. At this point the fire remains within the Athabasca County jurisdiction.

Please stay away from the area to allow emergency crews to continue their work. Do not fly drones within the area as it can affect aerial support.
