Fire Restriction Now In Place

Due to the recent weather conditions, Athabasca County has downgraded the fire ban effective May 19, 2020.  A FIRE RESTRICTION is now in effect for that area of the County outside of the Forest Protection Area.

This restriction prohibits the issuance of new permits except for requests for essential agricultural burning which will be considered by contacting the County office.  The discharge of fireworks and exploding targets are prohibited.

The following fires are permitted during this restriction:  small cooking and warming fires in fire rings, approved burn barrels, and propane or natural gas-powered appliances.

Please continue to use caution when working or driving in grassy areas and to be mindful of debris collecting on hot exhaust which could result in the ignition of a fire.
