Fire Advisory in Effect

Effective Thursday, August 18, 2022, Athabasca County has issued a Fire Advisory for the area of the County outside of the Forest Protection Area.

The Fire Advisory allows for the use of burn barrels along with cooking and warming fires.  The issuance of new fire permits will be restricted to essential burning only.

Residents and visitors to Athabasca County are advised to use caution while conducting any burning and to be diligent in safety practices.  Keep fires small and ensure it is completely extinguished before leaving the area.

Off-Highway Vehicles can start wildfires – check frequently to ensure hotspots are free of debris, and make sure mufflers and spark arrestors are working properly.

The Fire Advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve.
