In February 2026 County Council reviewed and amended Policy 3405- Dust Suppression Program to better balance community needs, road maintenance priorities, and available resources. These changes will affect how dust suppression is provided in hamlets, eligible subdivisions, cemeteries, and other locations.
Under the revised Dust Suppression Program, dust suppression will be applied at no cost every second year in the following areas:
- Hamlets
- Subdivisions where dwellings are located on at least 75% of the lots
- Cemeteries
- Special circumstances
When complimentary dust suppression is not scheduled, property owners may apply for cost-shared dust suppression through the County’s existing application process.
To be eligible for cost-shared dust suppression, the property must contain a qualifying dwelling.
Under the updated program, a dwelling is defined as a structure that:
- Contains one or more habitable rooms that constitute a self-contained living accommodation unit with sleeping, living, and toilet facilities;
- Is intended for use as a permanent or seasonal residence; and
- Is assessed for the purpose of taxation.
Non occupied residential properties may apply for dust suppression at full product cost.
Residents are encouraged to review Policy 3405 for additional details. Information on application deadlines, cost-sharing requirements, and program schedules will be communicated through the County’s website and regular communication channels.
