Did You Know? A Development Permit May Be Required for a Structure Beyond This Size

Did you know? Athabasca County’s Land Use Bylaw #004-2019 requires a development permit for any structure larger than 107 ft² (10 m²). A permit may also be required for activity that does not involve construction, such as stripping or grading a lot.

Not everything needs a permit, however. There is a list of exemptions for when a permit is not required.

If you are planning a project in the spring, we encourage you to contact our Planning and Development Department at 780-675-2273 to see if a permit is needed and what regulations would be applicable.
