Athabasca County is happy to confirm that construction of the new Colinton bridge on Range Road 222A is scheduled to begin on April 1st, 2025.
Engineering of the bridge began in 2023, and the decommissioning of the old bridge and bank stabilization began near the end of 2024. It was determined that removal of the bridge would be required, as repairs would have been a temporary solution.
Work will include the removal of the remaining structures and construction of the new bridge in its place.
The detours that were previously in place from the closure will remain until the new bridge is completed.
Construction is estimated to be completed by mid-October.
The old bridge has been closed since May of 2022 due to safety concerns for the bridges structure.
All work shall be done in compliance with the requirements and restrictions of the latest edition of the Alberta Environments “Code of Practice for Watercourse Crossings”.
We thank you for your patience.
