Become a Member At Large

Athabasca County is seeking members of the community to serve as Members At Large. Position descriptions and general information about the positions are as follows:

 

Assessment Review Board (Four) Members – 3-Year Term

  • Four County residents to serve as Members at Large on the Assessment Review Board for a 3-year term, ending October 2024.
  • The purpose of the Board is to hear complaints against local property assessments.
  • Mandatory training is required (7, 3-hour online sessions).
  • The Board meets as required.

 

Athabasca Airport Committee (One) Member – 2-Year Term

  • One County resident to serve as a Member at Large on the Athabasca Airport Committee for a 2-year term, ending December 31, 2023.
  • The Committee meets as required and usually has 3 – 4 morning meetings per year, with several days’ notice given. Aviation interest or knowledge is a definite asset.

 

Family & Community Support Services (One) Member – 3-Year Term

  • One County resident to serve as a Member at Large on the Family & Community Support Services Board for a 3-year term ending December 31, 2024.
  • The Board has 8 scheduled morning meetings per year, with a months’ notice given. Applicants must be willing to support the FCSS Mission ‘to improve individual, family & community well-being by providing or supporting preventive programs & services’. Subdivision & Development Appeal Board (Four) Members – 3-Year Term

  • Four County residents to serve as Members at Large on the Subdivision & Development Appeal Board for a 3-year term, ending October 2024.
  • The purpose of the Board is to hear appeals from municipal subdivision and development authorities.
  • Mandatory training is required (4, 3-hour online sessions).
  • The Board meets as required.

 

Tourism/Economic Development Committee (Two) Members – 3-Year Term

  • Two County residents to serve as Members at Large on the Tourism/Economic Development Committee for a 3-year term, ending December 31, 2024.
  • The Committee meets during the day on a regular monthly basis. Economic Development and Tourism knowledge would be a definite asset.

 

Members of the above-mentioned Boards will be eligible for a meeting honoraria and travel expenses, as set by County Policy.
