Athabasca County FCSS Receives Donation from Stanley Tarabula Estate

Athabasca County Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) is honoured to have received a generous donation from the estate of the late Stanley Tarabula, who passed away in July 2024 at the age of 75.

Stanley was a lifelong supporter of community and family. After graduating from Edwin Parr Composite School, he moved north to Edzo, Northwest Territories, where he worked as a maintenance technician at the school. He later relocated to Yellowknife and served as a computer technician at the local hospital. Following his retirement, Stanley returned to Athabasca, where he remained an active member of the community for over 20 years. He was a familiar face at the Multiplex swimming pool and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

“This gift was unexpected and will allow us to look into additional ways to support families who access our services,” said Debbie Wood, FCSS Manager. “We have reached out to Stan’s family to express our appreciation and to discuss meaningful ways to honour his memory.”

In recognition of Stanley’s lasting commitment to family and community, a picnic table will be installed at the new Athabasca Riverfront Pavilion, currently being built by the Athabasca Rotary Club. This tribute will provide a gathering space for residents and visitors to enjoy for years to come.

Athabasca County FCSS expresses heartfelt gratitude to the Tarabula family for ensuring Stanley’s legacy will continue to benefit the community he called home.
