Recruitment for a permanent CAO is underway
At a Special County Council Meeting held on June 16, 2026, Council approved a motion to accept Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Bob Beck’s resignation, effective July 31, 2026.
“On behalf of Council, I would like to acknowledge the resignation of our Chief Administrative Officer, Bob Beck, and express our sincere gratitude for his service to Athabasca County,” said Reeve Tracy Holland. “We thank him for his dedication, expertise and commitment to our municipality, and we wish him every success and happiness in his next chapter.”
The appointment of an interim CAO will be reviewed at a future Council meeting to ensure the continuity of Athabasca County operations in the absence of a permanent CAO.
“Council’s immediate focus is ensuring a smooth transition,” added Reeve Holland. “We will work closely with administration and have begun the process of recruiting a new CAO. We want to also extend our gratitude to Athabasca County employees for their hard work, experience and commitment to public service. They are the foundation of the many services Athabasca County provides everyday. We could not be more grateful for each and every one of them.”
Mr. Beck has served Athabasca County as CAO since October 2, 2023.
